Keeping Up-To-Date with What's Happening in the World

An informed citizen is aware of what's happening in the world, seeks out diverse perspectives, and critically evaluates information. This page provides access to specific news outlets, and large collections of new, historical, and ethic news presses.

Things to think about when looking for and reading news:

  • Are you getting multiple viewpoints? Is someone's voice missing?
  • What kind of news is it? Is it just facts, is there any bias, is it investigative journalism, who owns the parent media company?
  • There are limits to how many articles you can read from major news outlets, check the list below to see if the library has full access.

Evaluating News Sources

Being a skeptical reader is a good thing, but not all news is fake news. Think of the following when reviewing and reading news.

keep it real, demand truth, pop that bubble and get a mix of viewpoints

read past headlines, resist clickbait
