Starting Points for Graduate Research
The OneSearch box on the library homepage is an excellent research tool, but it searches so much of our print and electronic library content that it may not give you the focused results you need! If the tips below don't meet your needs, consider reaching out to a librarian for personalized research assistance.

Because you may need information from multiple disciplines, searching all EBSCO's databases can be a good place to start.
- Statista This link opens in a new windowComprehensive reports on over 1,000 industry topics. Access to 1 million statistics – ready to use in PPT, XLS and PNG. Includes COVID-19-related data and infographics, including supply chain and other economic impact summaries on various industry sectors. Includes reports on individual countries.

- IMF eLibrary Digital CollectionThe International Monetary Fund has made its collection of digital publications available at no cost, as of January 1, 2020. Topics include global and regional economic outlooks, debt, law, infrastructure, and more. Some resources require creating a free account.

Connect your Google Scholar account to Cal Maritime Library to automatically access articles that are part of the library's full-text subscription databases!
- Access the Google Scholar settings by visiting: https://scholar.google.com/scholar_settings
- Click Library links on the left hand menu.
- Search for California Maritime Academy in the search box.

Produced by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Technical Information Service, this resource facilitates accessing the latest U.S. government-sponsored research and worldwide scientific, technical, engineering, and business-related information. 1964-current.
- Science.govScience.gov searches over 60 databases and over 2,200 scientific websites to provide users with access to more than 200 million pages of authoritative federal science information including research and development results.
- OSTI.GOVOSTI.GOV is the primary search tool for DOE science, technology, and engineering research and development results and the organizational hub for information about the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information. OSTI.GOV contains nearly 3 million citations, including citations to 1.5 million journal articles, 1 million of which have digital object identifiers (DOIs) linking to full-text articles on publishers' websites. It also has more than 445,000 full-text DOE-funded STI documents.
