Stephanie Gonzales: Regulating the High Seas
Abstract
Although no state can claim the high seas, many nations exploit them. Which can result in many threats like overfishing and the emerging industry. An obstacle the United Nations will have to overcome, will be compelling the involvement of those in the international community who are not already partied to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, such as the United States. This thesis will consider what key concepts would be a requirement for the agreement to have or not have to encourage United States ratification.
